Welcome to NORTH CAROLINA
The Tar Heel State

Welcome to North Carolina, The Tar Heel State. Bordered on the east by 300 miles of beaches, islands and inlets, our coast has plenty of fishing for everyone. There are gently rolling plains, golf courses, lakes, and farmlands. In the west there are the Appalachians, Blue Ridge Mountains and the Great Smoky Mountains to explore. You can rock hound (collect rocks), hike, raft, and horseback ride, hang glide and numerous other sports.

If you don’t want to drive then take the Tweetsie Railroad to see the autumn foliage. Walk some of the trails established by Daniel Boone himself. Check out Grandfather Mountain, the United Nations has singled this out as a nature preserve of global importance. Here you can cross the highest swinging footbridge in America, or if heights aren’t your thing just sit and relax while listening to the eagles and other birds cry out to each other. We have some of the highest waterfalls in the eastern United States, like Mingo Falls. A wildflower program keeps our highways looking beautiful. Come visit us in North Carolina and discover everything we have to offer.

We thank you for choosing North Carolina Travel Guide to plan your next vacation, and hope that your time spent in North Carolina is both enjoyable and refreshing.
